Don't let its fragile looks fool you, as this machine is made to take beatings. It was first showcased at EICMA 2021 with plans to enter the European market soon. And that is happening right now as the F80 has landed in France. The performance figures are modest but its impressively less curb weight of under 200 pounds unlocks a whole new level of fun. This enduro electric motorcycle coming across the pond is unlikely, and that's a bummer.

Caofen F80: An Unexpected Recipe For Fun
The Caofen F80 packs a mid-drive electric motor that is located right where an ICE would be. This motor churns out 4 kW (5.36 hp) in the restricted F80-C1 trim which has a top speed of 28 mph. The non-restricted F80-C3 trim pumps out 8 kW (10.7 hp) that has a top speed of 53 mph. While the numbers are not impressive, it should be noted that this dual-sport machine weighs in at just 165 pounds.
Its lightweight nature means that it is a recipe for pure fun. The electric motorcycle is extremely likeable and despite its modest performance figures can climb up trails with ease. Caofen also claims that this minimal wonder can do 60 miles on a single charge when ridden at an average of 19 mph. In full power, the F80 can do 34 miles. Caofen suggests that the F80 can be charged from nil to full in just over two hours.
The Caofen F80 Gets Capable Hardware To Take On Trails
Despite being a vehicle that you can pick up with bare hands, the Caofen F80 is loaded with capable hardware. It gets a one-piece frame that uses the magnesium-cased 7V 2.16 kWh Li-Ion battery pack as a stressed member. The position of this battery pack is low which also caters to a lower center of gravity.
The bike comes with a long-travel suspension with inverted front forks and a pre-load adjustable rear mono-shock unit. This provides it with suspension travel of 200 mm (7.87 inches) and a ground clearance of 265 mm (10.43 inches). It gets spoked wheels with knobbed off-road-ready tires that add to its "trail" abilities. The F80 also gets disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
The Caofen F80 Is As Barebones As It Gets
If you see the Caofen F80 from afar, we won't be surprised if it is confused with a pedal cycle, because that's how barebone it is. The tires are knobby yet very thin. And the suspended single seat looks like it can barely hold one rider! It gets tiny LED headlamps and taillamps along with a small LCD on the handlebar, and that's about it. The turn indicators at the rear are neatly positioned onto a small tire-hugger.
This Enduro Motorcycle Has Reached European Shores
The Caofen F80 has already reached Europe with France being its first market. It is being sold through Jonway France, an electric two-wheeler distributor that ships cool wheels like the Caofen from Asia. The restricted Caofen F80-C1 is priced at €5,590(~$5,917), and the more-powerful F80-C3 is priced at €5,890 (~$6,235). Will the Caofen F80 reach American shores? Not so likely.
